In this episode of Thyroid Pharmacist Healing Conversations, I spoke with Elizabeth Clark, a former laboratory diagnostics researcher turned educator who specializes in nervous system regulation, advanced self-muscle testing, and “interference fields” – areas of scar tissue or injury that may disrupt communication within the body.
Elizabeth shares a fascinating perspective on why some people continue to struggle with chronic symptoms despite addressing many of the common root causes of Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism. We explored how scar tissue from surgeries, piercings, dental work, or injuries may influence nervous system signaling, as well as the complex interactions between toxins, infections, emotional stress, and thyroid function.
If you’ve addressed nutrition, gut health, nutrient deficiencies, infections, and environmental triggers but still feel like something is missing, this episode may introduce you to a new area worth learning more about.
What You’ll Learn in This Episode
- Could old scars, piercings, or dental work be affecting your health? Elizabeth explains the concept of “interference fields.” She shares why old injuries, surgeries, tattoos, piercings, and dental procedures may sometimes play an unexpected role in chronic symptoms.
- The surprising connection between dental implants and thyroid health. Elizabeth shares her personal story of developing thyroid dysfunction after dental work and how removing a problematic implant dramatically changed her health. She also discusses why even biologically compatible materials can sometimes trigger immune reactions or interfere with healing in sensitive individuals.
- The emotional patterns Elizabeth commonly sees in women with thyroid issues. Elizabeth explains why feelings of not being heard, suppressing your voice, chronic people-pleasing, humiliation, and self-sacrifice frequently show up in women struggling with thyroid dysfunction, and how chronic stress may influence healing alongside physical root causes.
- Why mold, viruses, toxins, and emotional stress often travel together. Rather than acting independently, Elizabeth explains why these factors may compound one another, creating a perfect storm that keeps the body stuck in survival mode. She shares why addressing only one root cause may leave people feeling like they’re taking two steps forward and one step back.
- A different way to gather clues about your body’s unique needs. Elizabeth explains advanced self-muscle testing as a screening tool that she uses to help identify potential stressors and priorities for healing. She also shares why no single test tells the whole story and why combining multiple sources of information often leads to better decisions.
- An unconventional therapy that may help address “interference fields.” Elizabeth explains the principles behind neural therapy, why it’s more commonly used in Germany than the United States, and how practitioners use it to help address scars and other areas that may contribute to nervous system interference and chronic symptoms.

Programs and Resources Mentioned
- 6 Weeks to Nervous System Regulation – The proven 6-week method to stop your gut, skin, and inflammation from flaring “randomly” every few months.
- Discernment Framework™ – A biofeedback-based screening method Elizabeth teaches to help individuals gather additional information about their body’s responses and prioritize potential healing strategies.
- Applied kinesiology (traditional muscle testing) – A technique that evaluates muscle strength in response to various stimuli and is commonly used by some integrative practitioners as a screening tool.
- Neural therapy – A therapeutic technique, commonly practiced in Germany, that uses injections (often procaine) into scars, nerves, or other tissues to address interference fields and support nervous system regulation.
- Scar needling – An acupuncture-based technique that targets scar tissue to help restore normal tissue function and reduce interference within the body’s communication pathways.
- Acupuncture – A traditional Chinese medicine therapy that uses fine needles placed at specific points on the body to support healing and nervous system balance.
- Light & Sound Therapies
- Red light therapy – A light-based therapy that uses specific wavelengths of red light to support tissue repair and cellular function.
- Near-infrared light therapy – A therapy using near-infrared wavelengths that Elizabeth discusses as a potential non-invasive approach for supporting interference fields.
- Pulsed light therapy – The use of flashing light at specific pulse frequencies that Elizabeth has experimented with to support nervous system regulation.
- Pulsed sound therapy – A therapeutic approach using sound frequencies delivered in pulses that may influence nervous system signaling.
- Quantum light wand – A handheld light device Elizabeth experimented with to deliver pulsed light to neural therapy points.
- Tapping (pulse-frequency tapping) – A rhythmic tapping technique taught by Dr. Klinghardt that may help regulate the nervous system and support certain neural pathways.
- Cold laser therapy – A low-level laser therapy sometimes used over the thyroid or other tissues to support healing without generating heat.
- PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy – A regenerative procedure that uses a person’s own concentrated platelets to support tissue healing.
- Biological dentistry – A branch of dentistry focused on using biocompatible materials and minimizing the biological impact of dental procedures.
- Book by Hans Burop — The Textbook and Atlas of Neural Therapy
Supplements and Medications Mentioned
- Armour Thyroid – A natural desiccated thyroid medication containing both T4 and T3 hormones that Elizabeth used for approximately 10 years to support thyroid function.
- Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) – A prescription medication Elizabeth used to help manage her lupus symptoms before discontinuing it after having a dental implant removed.
- Iodine – An essential mineral Elizabeth used at various points while working to support her thyroid function and taper off thyroid medication. (Those with Hashimoto’s should use with caution – see my full article on iodine for more information.)
- Thyroid glandular supplements – Animal-derived glandular products Elizabeth used intermittently to support thyroid health during periods of fluctuating thyroid function.
